In the preferences of Windows desktop notifier a new “Mail” tab can be found, which allows you to “Enable mail notifications for these accounts:” below it lists all the IM accounts that you have signed up for on Meebo.

So now when you receive a new email on Yahoo, Gmail etc, you will get pop up notifications at the bottom of your computer screen similar to the ones that you get for the new IMs. Clicking on the notification will take you to the email service you got an email on.

Using this feature enables you to conveniently check and keep tack of the emails that you receive on different email services as generally one uses the same username and password for the email and IM within services like Gmail/Gtalk or Yahoo.

It’s rare though but remembers all those Spam emails from China, Russia etc? How to read them? Copy and paste in translation engine is a common way out but it’s a bit complicated and time consuming for people belonging to global teams who frequently communicate in a multi-language environment.

Now Gmail users don’t have to worry about the translations, Google has enabled language translation in Gmail, you can translate emails written in foreign language to your native readable language. To enable the translation option, go to the Labs tab under Settings and enable the “Message Translation” option.

Any foreign language emails will now automatically have an option to translate the message into the language of your current settings. Also the translation is inline that is you don’t have to leave the current message. You can also translate and print the translated version using the Translate and Print option.

For e.g. we are trying to find out the email id of CEO of a company. First we need the name of the CEO. Most of the times names of senior employees can easily be found in the About Us>Management Team page of the company’s website, sometimes also on the Contact Us page. If name is not found on the company’s website then go to google.com and put in “CEO Company’s name” in the search box.

If that doesn’t work can put in “CEO company’s name linkedin” in the Google search box you should get the linkedin profiles having name, title and where the person is currently working. Check for the required company and find the CEO’s name.

Now the tough part, how to find the email id of the CEO? Go back to google.com and type in the CEO name “@companywebsite.com” in the search box for eg John Smith “@something.com”. Do Ctrl+F and search for @companywebsite.com within the search results and look for relevant email id of the CEO.

If the above step doesn’t get the CEO’s email id then look at the other email ids for the same company and try to understand the structure of the email id for eg it can be like firstname.lastname@companywebsite.com or firtsnameinitial.lastname@companywebsite.com etc. Once you have the email id structure CEO’s email id can be easily derived.

Another way to find the structure of the email id is to check the whois records for that domain using this site, you can also download a small tool here for checking whois records.

PRnewswire.com, Businesswire.com, MarketWatch.com and Yahoo Finance can also be used to find the email id structures by searching for the company’s press releases and locating the contacts at the bottom of the news release.

The process described above should work in majority of cases (CEO’s at Fortune 1000 or Fortune 500 companies can be found using this trick). But sometimes you may have to play around with the structure of email ids by testing different versions before you get the right one.
Maybe the Email never reached the recipient or the recipient did not even bother to open it? Anxious to know if the Email sent by you has been read by the recipient or not?

Here is a simple free email tracking system called SpyPig which will instantly send you a email notification when the recipient opens and reads your message. The read receipt contains details like Recipient Location, IP address, browser details. SpyPig works with almost every email program, desktop email clients like Outlook and Thunderbird as well as web based email (like Yahoo!, Gmail etc.)

It is simple to use – just type in your email address (where you wish to receive the read email notifications) select a small tracking graphic that you have to embed in the outgoing email message using a simple drag-n-drop. That’s all.

You can even upload your own graphics and use them in your email message. As the tracking device for SpyPig is image download, it has some limitations, works only with HTML emails, not plain text.
