One: From the hard disk to the program where it is processed and then displayed.
Two: From the program to the hard disk i.e. program writes on the hard disk.
Now if we can prevent the program to write on the hard disk no threat/viruses will be able to get to our hard disk and thus preventing the infection.
Sandboxie changes the rules of the data flowing back to the hard drive it doesn’t allow the program to write on the hard disk; the program writes the data in a sandbox instead, which can be discarded any moment.
